I Cried Tonight

by Katie   Apr 30, 2007

I cried tonight
Just for you
It's not so much
That it's the truth

But I hope you hear me
When I tell you I miss you
Because it hurts me
To know that you don't

I don't ever want to feel like that
Don't let it happen again
I need you to believe the fact
That I need you more than this

I'll be here waiting
Waiting for that day to come
The one when I get to see you
One last time
Make it come sooner

My favorite part of this poem was "I cried tonight, just for you," as if it was a gift, your crying. I liked that - ironic and interesting. Did you intend to lengthen the lines as the poem went on? The first ones were very short, but they got bigger. Kind of threw off my reading-rhythm, but it would be an interesting device if it were intentional.

You write lots of poems, girl!
