Choices

by Jenni Marie   Apr 30, 2007

A girl's life was ripped away
By a psycho with a knife
He chose to destroy her family
And throw them into strife.

One girl chose medicine
To devote time to helping others
Each day she saves different people
Children, friends, and mothers.

Then there's the pedophile
Each day claiming someone new
The pain and horror he causes
He just doesn't have a clue.

There's the girl who helps
Build houses with her bare hands
People in third world countries need our help
She's one of the few that understands.

There's the group of bullies
Who make some lives hell
Threatening to kill them
If they were to tell.

There's the ones fighting for their country's
Trying to make the world a better place
Yet more wars keep happening
So many lives just a waste.

Then there is the people
Hidden in a world of pain
No one there to help them
Left to go insane.

There's the ones who DO have help
Yet they throw it all away
They have the chance to make it better
And still they watch their life decay.

Everyone has choices
it depends which ones you make
That show if you're a decent person
And which path in life you'll take.

I really felt attracted to this poem.

    Then there is the people
Hidden in a world of pain
No one there to help them
    Left to go insane.

^^ That was my favorite stanza.

The flow was great. And I really liked how you did one person as being hurt, then the other stanza as someone that's helping out. Great job! 5/5
