Behind the Crimson Door

by dollwithafrown   Apr 30, 2007

The children of a neighbourhood go nowhere near
That solid crimson door which emits a dreaded fear
"It's evil!" "It's haunted!" is what they think is true
Yet they'll never really know; too scared to go through

The curtains at the windows, torn at many sides
With just one look, the town people decide
That this house must be evil, that's all that it can be
Their ignorance blinds them from truth that they can't see

The wooden door is crimson, a deep strong ruby red
In other's eyes that surely means bloodshed
Yet behind the door is happiness; a small loving family
Just two married elders, with the name Bramley

Mr. and Mrs. Bramley, married for sixty-two years
Sharing the happiness of love, through both laughter and tears
Knowing what other people think, outside the small house of theirs
Bothering neither of them, they're left alone with their cares

People sometimes say that ignorance is bliss
If you really believe that, then take a look at this
Never seeing a real example, of true love in the air
Their close-mindedness stops them realising what is there

So instead they are left to worry at night
If ghosts from the house will come to give them fright
The loving couple stay together in lovers galore
Locked in each other's heart behind the crimson door

I absouletly loved this, the message it gave was extremely true.
The flow through-out this poem was quite amazing, along with the rhyming; nothing seemed forced. I love the name Bramley, for some reason. :D It's cute, and it makes me think of a couple in love.

You did a great job with this poem; keep it up.
