Dream Now, Child

by DMG   Apr 30, 2007

Marshmallow clouds soar through maple skies
Caramel sunlight reflects in his eyes
Strawberry daisies with wintergreen stems
Sprout out of skittles and M&M's
The child skips through this meadow of dreams
Where everything is just as it seems
Taste buds go wild for peppermint bark
Peeled from trees of chocolate so dark
He smiles with lips of licorice rope
And rolls down a hill's sugar coated slope
Then jumps up to run straight to the river
But trips over a rock-candy crystal
Slices his knee and cherry drink pours
Out of the wound like a virgin wh^re
Tears gush out as the nightmare unfolds
Sunlight fades out and the boy becomes cold
Darkness overcomes as he screams and shouts
He stands to his feet and wanders about
Then in the distance his mother appears
"Don't worry child, there's nothing to fear."
Into her arms - his head to her breast
Safely and soundly now he can rest
One long deep breath and his pulse rate slows
"Sleep now son. Mother knows, Mother knows."
