Prophecies In Kodak

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Apr 30, 2007

The clock is ticking on the mantelpiece beside her,
Tears streaming down onto that old wedding picture,
And she traces the lines beside her bright blue eyes,
Reflecting her life, cursing herself for falling for his lies.

And she laces her lungs with cigarette smoke,
Pulling herself together with a smile, she chokes -
On all the spiteful words she's left unsaid and -
She slams the empty bottle down with a shaking hand.

Her body is silhouetted against the moon-cast walls,
A shadow dancing in angst, on her knees she falls,
Looking to the picture of the day the first baby arrived,
When he sat beside her, promising her the rest of his life.

And if you looked into her eyes you'd be able to see,
The hatred she holds for the man who fathered me,
But she holds herself together, she won't take him back,
And her life is laid out in the prophecies in Kodak.
