Only Sometimes.

by Teria   May 1, 2007

Sometimes the unexplained is better than the explained.
Sometimes the fugitives are better than those not judged.
Sometimes the weeds are more beautiful than flowers.
Sometimes the trees are better without leaves.
Sometimes the car you drive is better without gas.

But, only sometimes is all of this true.
And, only sometimes do I really love you.

Rarely the leaves are better as brown than red.
Rarely the black shirt is better than the pink.
Rarely the frames upon the walls tell us of the truth.
Rarely the corners of the house are cleaner than the floor.
Rarely the chairs are more useless than the table.

But, only rarely is all of this a lie.
And, only rarely do I even try.

Often the tears that fall are real.
Often the polish I wear is bright.
Often the path I follow is wide.
Often the shelves I stock are empty.
Often the button I push is right.

But, only often does all of this happen.
And, only often you are forgiven.

Sometimes the reason you left taunts me.
Sometimes the fears that keep the trail are covered.
Sometimes the father I had is missed.
Sometimes the dreams I have fade away.
Sometimes the things I want are out of reach.

But, only sometimes is all of this true.
And, only sometimes do I really love you.

This is a pretty powerful poem. The emotion is quite evident and really puts a feeling in the reader's mind. The flow is suprisingly fluent and glides through this interesting form well. Also the style is unique and is written in a way that keeps the reader engaged. I liked this poem because it also nails a feeling many people have when they're not sure if what they feel is 'love' or LOVE. Great write 5/5.
