The first thing that you'll read

My nerves are a mess to go through with my plan
My hearts rushing, I have shaking hands
I've never been this brave to do what I will
Give to you my writings and let all my feelings spill

I started writing about you a year ago
I've kept it a secret, didn't want anyone to know
Now I'm no longer ashamed, no longer I'll hide
Its been four years that I've kept these feelings inside

So this upcoming summer, when you open the door
You'll find a book of poems that I've kept stored
They've been under my bed collecting a lot of dust
Signed on every page, "I hope things work between us"

You'll see I can no longer keep these feelings tamed
When you notice the hearts I have around you name
I prayed every page to smell like a rose
See on every paper its marked with X's and O's

As you bend over to pick them up, I'll watch behind a tree
And stare at your facial expression after reading poems by me
My phone in my pocket waiting to ring
To hear you say "I liked everything"

I want to make sure you get the note attached to the book
My words spilled out, barely any time I took
Waiting for your reaction my heart will slowly bleed
But I'll make sure the first thing that you read

Says:
" I want to be with you, not much more I can say
Your in my dreams at night, and thoughts throughout the day
Your exactly the kind of man I asked God to send
And I don't know how much longer I can go on being your friend"

You can do with that note whatever you want to
I pray that God somehow just speak to you
And say, "Sure there are more prettier women in this world,
But she's the one I have planned for you, she is the girl"

When you read it all I hope you come running down the street
Knock on my door and swoop me off my feet
From then on out, because of my innocent move
I hope the rest of your life, I'm the only girl you choose
