Stones And Things

by Melissa   May 2, 2007

Sometimes I wish my heart
weren't a field of dandelions
blooming to be seen,
this girl don't need saving
anymore

God knew Jack was a violent man,
but he took daddy from me anyway
and why's can ride you
like a memory that haunts the flesh

rattles it's bones

So lately vessel's been wishing
her stance weren't so fragile,
those petals long to be tough
like a stone
or some other hardy thing
instead of a petite flower
with weak limbs,
feeling everything

Melissa!! Again, this was a beautiful poem! I love how you write about a person we are expected to know, it makes the poem feel more comfortable. Brings us in so quickly, and keeps us in there. Awesome stuff!

Real emotion coming through your words. I was a little puzzled by the shift from "I" to "she" though

Wow, this was a really good poem. It was beautifully written, and easy to understand. It made me kinda sad, but I loved the poem.
