Is Love? (Bearly Coherant Ramblings)

by Chad Picard   May 2, 2007

Is love a liability?
or does it have inherent utility

Is it a window? a door? a linkage between persons?
exchange of pleasure, or of pain?

perhaps a refrain
to solemn hymn
or joyous anthem?

How does this come to be
this connection between people?
how are our barriers so overcome?

Is it done by stealthy stalking tentacles
slipping in then through cracks in our shells?
Or is it by unsubtle hammer-blows
that smash our walls to pieces?

Do we, like Narcissus
Fall for ourselves
cruelly ignoring a heart-smashed Echo

or is it we who cry out in vain?

I just wrote this "off the cuff" I'm really not sure what I mean by these words, if I have any exact meaning at all.
