A Day in the Life (I don't need help)

by RetroRavey   May 2, 2007

Pull down my sleeve
To start the day.
The day passes and
I pay no attention,
It slides up again.
They pretend not to see
The darkness in me.
They pretend not to see...
They know what's wrong with me.

Pull down my sleeve
Before I go.
I don't want to go to therapy.
I tell myself
I don't need help,
So the pain I hide.

"Hello Goodbye"
The mirror screams back
"We need to talk!"
But I don't listen to myself.
I tell myself
I don't need help
So I pull down my sleeve
And start over again.

So many days that pass the same,
They all smile
At my insanity.
They all know my pain.
They pretend they don't see
The burden of me.
They don't want to see.
I tell myself
I don't need help.
And every day the mirror screams
"We need to talk!"
Every day...

Pull down my sleeve,
I don't need help.

I agree with skyfire ~ everyones pulling down their sleeves. (in my poetry, i call it cheating at life). this poem is really honest - not many ppl have that much perspective on their probs in life. great writing!

    "I tell myself
    I don't need help
So I pull down my sleeve
    And start over again."

It makes you think...how many out there are literally or even figuratively 'pulling down sleeves?' So many people out there are hiding scars...i think this poem is one that everyone can relate to in one way or another. Keep writing!
