She Kissed It

by Richard S   May 3, 2007

She kissed it and made it better.
But the pain was still there.
A phantom injury.
A lost limb.

She kissed it and made it better.
It felt so good at the time.
A malignant tumor.
A lost soul.

She kissed it and made it better.
But better just wasn't good enough.
A happy face bandage,
Ripped quickly, as Moms often do.

She kissed it and made it better.
If only she really could.
Maggots in open wounds,
Don't appreciate affection.

She kissed it and made it better.
If only in HER mind.
She kissed infected eye lids.
The eyes beneath had no sight.

She kissed it and made it better,
And that's good enough for now.
My lips are pursed.
I'd do the same, I guess.
