Moments to Memories

by BECCA lessTHANthree   May 4, 2007

The night was young, as were we,
Two kids who thought we knew it all,
Walking out into the dark,
Here to catch each other fall.
Up on rooftops, looking over,
A world we thought we'd figured out,
When in truth, we had no clue,
What this life was all about.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

The road was long and winding,
Lit only slightly by the moon,
And though the night was young,
Morning came too soon.
But sunlight couldn't break us,
We were lost in midnight's time,
In conversations freeing us,
To leave it all behind.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

The chilly snow was falling light,
Leaving flakes atop our clothes,
But when you're lost in someone's eyes,
Such a distraction doesn't show.
We didn't feel the burn of coldness,
Though we laid in snow for hours;
Cause being frozen was fully worth,
Being with you, in cold snow showers.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

The sun was shining brightly,
Our bodies dripping wet,
The sound of waves crashing down,
There to cool us from the sweat.
The sand was blowing slightly,
Flying with the breeze,
Sticking to our bodies,
To our hands and to our knees.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

The day was like no other,
The sound of cars, and then a breeze,
The sound of silence, then a screech,
Of a car, heading towards me.
But the idiot that you were,
You pushed me out of the way,
The car killed you instead,
And I was left without a say.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

I had no voice in this decision,
I would've killed myself instead...
But you loved me, more than life,
And now you're lying dead.
In a coffin, 6 feet down,
My claustrophobic dear,
Please don't be scared, and don't forget,
That I am always here.

Moments turned to memories,
In everything we'd do.
Oh, what I'd give for one more day,
Just one more day with you.

Please remember darling,
You're the one i truly love,
That my heart once beat with you,
And though your gone, it still does.
For you're the boy who took his life,
Without a moment of thought,
Though selfishly, leaving me,
In all the pain your death has brought...

Leaving me a memory,
That kills in all I do.
Oh what I'd give, for one more day,
Just one more day with you... <3

** PS this is not a true story so please don't be sad :]P

I really enjoyed reading this poem, i found it to be more like a story but you pulled it off quite nicely. The emotions portrayed were beautifully sad. So strong and powerful. I found this to be heartfelt and capturing. The story you portrayed was amazing. I found it to be sweet and loving at the start then it had a twist going dark and sad. Interesting poem i enjoyed reading it alot. Well done~mel
