Tulips are better

by firexdancer   May 4, 2007

Roses are red,
so gorgeous as well,
but roses have thorns,
and the wounds start to swell.

roses are beautiful,
but their poison is strong,
a web of black blood,
that catches your song.

roses are divine,
yet beauty isn't always from up above,
why don't people understand they are a symbol of hate,
but they are used for love.

roses are theives,
a stealer of hearts,
yet you can't feel the pain,
until the breaking starts.

roses are alive,
touch cold as snow,
numbing your mind,
stopping your flow.

roses are killers,
but when crushed in the dust,
now a message of pain,
once a symbol of lust.

roses are bewitching,
even as a corpse in the ground,
because vampires they are,
in the grave a new one will be found.

roses are red,
you say that is a fact,
but when you look closely,
roses are black.

roses are heartbreakers,
flowers floating like feather,
but when my tears sparkle in their leaves,
tulips are better.

Amazing poem. Realistic but yet not all the way still leaves room for the imagination. Great job.
