The Brightest Of Stars

Looking out my window
Something I do each night
Searching for the brightest star
To make my world shine bright.

Millions of stars I see
Yet I bypass them all
Want mine to be the brightest
Not one that quickly falls.

Eyes scanning the sky
Slight smile upon my lips
Those tiny dazzling things
Have caught me in their grip.

This has been my habit
For so many years
Knowing once I find my star
I'll no longer be plagued by fears.

Yet just the other night
Something dawned on me
It took me by surprise
That it took me so long to see.

No longer do I need to search the skies
For already I have the brightest star
I see my star each time I look at you, my love
And I know together we will make it far.
