The Brothers' War

by memyselfandI   May 6, 2007

So now the time has come,
To test the strength of men,
A test taken for thousands of years,
Time and time again.

We begin our march,
Into the face of doom,
The sound of the rifles crack,
The sound of cannons boom.

Now standing face to face,
With my lost brother,
His expression is of hatred,
Unlike any other.

The enemy is so close,
I can see the color of their eyes,
I raise my rifle,
And ignore the cries.

We fire our weapons,
At the uniforms of gray,
Smoke rises from our barrels,
Blots out the light of day.

Our weapons reloaded,
They begin to run,
My beloved brother falls,
To the sound of my gun.

I carry my brother home,
To find my family tore,
My brother brought home in a casket,
Lost to the Brothers War.
