The Quietest Truth

by Hatori   May 7, 2007

Too quiet to hear,
Too loud to dismiss,
Just a simple sound,
Will cause it to go amiss.

It floats on the leaves,
Of a dozen white roses,
And calls to high kings,
Who are forced to their knees.

The more it is heard,
It is not heard at all,
So why does it exist,
If the rest of the world lives in bliss,
Simply ignoring the sound,
Of the quietest truth,
The truth of a whisper.

I don't find its overall consistency forced nor cragged at all. In fact, it has a nice flow, despite of the seemingly forced, longer lines.

    "It floats on the leaves,
    Of a dozen white roses,"

I really, really like that couplet. The fact that you portrayed a whisper floating through the leaves of flowers is rather innovative and provocative. Further, in my own perspective, the color white symbolizes unblemished purity and chastity. Correlating it with the subject at hand enchants me even more! Ha.

In any case, there's no doubt that I enjoyed this thoughtful poem. Thank you for sharing, dear!
