Threw It All Away

by MissSideways   May 7, 2007

My favourite strawberry lip balm.
Now empty.
Our flowers, their stems, once picked fresh.
Now lifeless.
Jewelry, love notes and photos.
Now meaningless nostalgia.
Each item that once meant so much to me
to you
discarded without tenderness into the void of the disposal bin
analogous to our relationship; empty, dismal and left in the dark.
I turn from you, and I run.
I will never stop running.
I fear if I stop and I turn around, you will see my discreditable, repentant tears from the ghost of our past streaming furiously, silently and hopelessly down my face.
Don't ever forgive me.
I don't deserve that kindness neither that degree of redemption.
Lip balm. Flower petals. Jewelry. You.
I threw it all away.

Don't flatter yourself, this may or may not be about you.
