MAKING A STAND

I was born in America, raised down in the south
going to say what want, because God gave me a mouth

People want to comment, on how they feel
they should be able to, without a big deal

Some people get offended and rub it in the ground
turn it around and make you look like a clown

So I'm going to say what I think and believe
you don't like it, then you should just leave

I'm proud of who I am and where we live
I took a lot of crap and now it's time to give

No I don't like the changes, that people make
and to be honest with you, had all I can take

I'm gonna say it, because I'm an honest man
worked here all my life, now I'm making a stand

Tired of being told, what I can and can't do
I have my opinions and you have yours too

So listen up the first time, to what I have to say
fighting for what I believe in, so don't stand in my way

It's the land of opportunity, home of the free
but I feel my rights, are being taking from me.©2007 Tracydr42

    I really enjoyed this poem. It had a lot of meaning and emotion in it. The force you used to get your point across with your words was truly a treat and it was exactly that which held my attention throughout the entire poem. For once I find arrogance with a cause.... and i applaud you for it 5/5

    I can't believe no one has commented yet. That was really good. I loved the message you were sending out, and the flow was wonderful this time, I could feel a since of pride, I like that. You did another well done Job, keep up the good work.
