Not Anymore

by Rebecca   May 8, 2007

Remember when I was unwanted?
Remember when I was broken?
Remember when I was abused?
Not anymore
Remember when I was gambled on?
Remember when I was choked?
Remember when I was starved?
Not anymore
Remember when I was saved?
Remember when I was loved?
Remember when I slept soundly?
I have left my past full of rips and tears
I have left my life full of slapping and grabbing
I have left my life of hurt and desire
Remember when they came?
They took me home
No more bone breaking
No more ripping tendons
No more damp dark cells
I have a home
I have a family
I have a girl who loves me
This is my home now
I am not unwanted here
This is my home
From now and to the finish
I have a home

Dedicated to my greyhound, Schuyler. I rescued him from the track in October and he has been my best friend ever since.
