On arrival (holocaust)

by ~me~   May 8, 2007

I walk in, surrounded by the unknown
surrounded by hundreds of people
all swarming around trains
just as insignificant as me
like 1 in 6 million
yet all submerged in there own importance
we get split into the weak and strong
this reality is so strange my mind wont allow it
I'm ripped apart from my children
they shatter in my memories
while everyone around me
theirs shattering too

In the night surrounded by those
so close, melting into each other
yet the heat from our eroding bodies
runs away from us in the darkness

wishing wanting waiting not to be,
engulfed in the light the next day

just one in 6 million

This is amazing - you really captured a lot of emotions in this poem. i read a lot about the holocaust, the rwandan genocide, the armenian genocide - all of those tragedies, because i think that if we understand them, we can try to prevent them. i agree w. Krzysztof J - i the only place in the enire world i don't want to visit is germany.
