Alone

by Thrax   May 9, 2007

I scale the walls of society
Looking down to what I am leaving
A pair of eyes return my gaze
Blue and deep like the ocean
With burning intensity

I avert my gaze; returning to my climb
Now it is all too evident
The reason for this wall
To protect from the loneliness
That surely lies beyond

I stand at the top now
Looking back at those eyes
Still returning my gaze, with focused curiosity
I extend my arms as a crucifix
And fall into my fate, alone
