I just need space

She's done it again,
But she's ignored me for the last time.
I don't need her shit in my life,
Because I was doing just fine.
I don't need her tears and death wishes,
Or her self inflicted cuts.
I don't want her painful stories,
Or her never ending "but"s.

Wait, what am I thinking?
She's one of my bestest friends.
I can't just throw her heart to the gutter,
I'm meant to be there till the very end.
I'm meant to make her smile and laugh,
And wipe her tears away.
I'm meant to be there in times of crisis,
But I just couldn't do it that day.

I shouldn't always be the one,
To listen to her cries.
And I shouldn't have to be the one,
Standing strong with the only dry eyes.
I shouldn't have to give up my smile,
And take on her pain too.
So I shouldn't have to pretend I'm fine,
Cause really, it's not all about you.

I don't know what to do anymore,
Or how to look you in th eyes.
I've hurt you way too much,
And everyday a part of me dies.
But for some unknown reason,
I can't shed a single tear.
And for some unknown reason,
I feel like I'm reliving one of my fears.

So if you let me have my space,
Everything will turn out fine.
We will forget this ever happened,
And pretend we erased it from time.
If you remember correctly,
I've said I still love you,
I'll still be there in the end,
Cause that what best friends do.

    Excellent job on this piece. I'm glad you made up with your friend. Good friends are hard to come by and are one of lifes greatest treasures.
