The Dozing Tiger

by Twisted Heart   May 9, 2007

I caught a tiger dozing
On my bed one afternoon
I sat and watched him sleeping
wishing he would wake up soon.

I didn't care how he came
To find a place to lay
But it is almost night time
And he's been asleep all day.

I tried to nudge him with a stick
So he'd open up his eyes
But he just stretched and gave a yawn
Much to my surprise.

Then I hit him with a book
But not a move he made
It's as he didn't feel it
And on my bed he stayed.

I finally picked him up
And tossed him on the floor
He gave a growl and slowly rose
And walked out of my door.

Love this poem. My grandkids are going to be so happy when they come to see me :) I plan on reading them all the great poems from RTVW. Imagery in this is excellent. Flow and word choices great.
