Picture Perfect Smile

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   May 9, 2007

Amy; look at her sitting there so sweet,
In her wheelchair and eyes that never meet -
Eyes of anyone else, she doesn't talk,
Since the day the Doctor said she wouldn't walk.

And she hears them laughing, she doesn't care,
Ask her to play with them, they wouldn't dare,
She's the girl out on the playground they all see,
Spit on and tortured to such a hateful degree.

The other children, playing kick ball in the grass,
Look over to her - she's the reject of the class,
And she hides the tears in her sweet green eyes,
Every night - of her pain, she regretfully denies.

They point and laugh, when she falls to the ground,
She looks for help, but there's no one around,
But one little boy, with his arm up in a cast,
Walks out of the crowd, as the others stand aghast -

"What are you doing John?" One little girl sneers,
"Yeah, leave her there!" Another boy cheers,
And the crowd of children stand amazed at John,
As one steps forwards and calls him a moron -

"Amy is my friend," John yells with tears in his eyes,
"And if you looked at yourselves, maybe you'd realize,
That she has never done anything to hurt any of you,
So don't you think she deserves to be happy too?"

And the other kids, they just laughed and turned away,
They were all out of words, had nothing left to say,
But John helped her back into her wheel chair,
As she cried: "You're the first one that's cared!"

"Oh forget about them, they're just jealous of you!"
Confused, Amy looked at him and said: "jealous of who?
There's nothing to be jealous of" She smiled with denial,
Blushing he said: "there's your picture perfect smile."

This one actually had me in tears. You arouse emotions that most people are not able to in the form of poetry. You're great! 5/5
