The Window

by icarus   May 9, 2007

I stare through the fragile glass
into black oblivion,
a well of darkness moves
behind the glassy sheen

the crystal now a liquid pane
my fingers rise and slide
across the black surface

dreaming of slipping into that dark void
desire to escape
fearing to let go

the lights flicker out,
i feel the darkness move across
the blank walls,
i feel it pushing in

dark tendrils glide across my body,
droplets of black illusion
slide down my face

i stare through the fragile glass
into black oblivion,
still trying to escape
