Flying {Double Tanka}

by xTheEcstasyOfSuicidex   May 9, 2007

For the truth in me,
A small, simple breath within.
Gentle breeze of air,
To chase away lies in me.

I feel like flying,
In a world of new hope.
I wish not to lie --
They weigh me down with burden;
I would much more rather fly.
```````````````````````````````````
Tanka is a classic form of Japanese poetry related to the haiku with five unrhymed lines of five, seven, five, seven, and seven syllables. (5, 7, 5, 7, 7)
    Wow I loved this poem. It was very refreshing and it felt just like I was flying as I read this. Very short yet you managed to get the point across. "In a world of new hope" that was my favorite line of the poem, so powerful even thoug it was so short. Nice job.
