3000

by Michael   May 10, 2007

The scent of death lingers in the air
Beasts once proud lay slain
Crimson tides wash upon the shore
Blue waters no longer as blood spills
Beaches once beautiful now black
The sun but a fairy tale
In this land of darkness
Night reigns at all hours
Moon lit skies reveal the monsters
The monsters we are
Metal winged Leviathons soar through the air
Lead rains down from them
Men, women, and children, black, white and others indifferent to their assailant
The machine called war
This vessel we use to claim lands, and resources
As our population grows, our inevitable extinction becomes evident as man cannot coincide with each other
Darwin's statement of survival of the fittest at its best
Man's sins won't go unpunished
As man and deity shall punish him
Earth begins to tremble
Ground below ruptures and swallows what's overhead
That which can fly finds its demise the slowest
As the waves come to wash the lands clean
Fire rains upon us and screams fill the air as those whose flesh melts under the heat cry
The year of our last breaths comes
The year 3000
