Pieces in the Dark

by Vic   May 10, 2007

Forever lost beneath the stars,
Where darkness covers hideous scars,
I wander alone, following guiding light,
Only to be misled to the lonely twilight.

I pray for mercy, my sins atoned,
For my heart can't breathe in its cage of stone.
The guardian of life has protected me,
Yet I still feel dead; a nobody.

This rugged mask shows confidence,
Glued to my face, no evidence
That I'm struggling, I want to be noticed,
I don't want to be alone in facing this.

I cannot cry, my tears won't show,
There is no way for them to know,
I hurt, I ache, I'm distant and cold.
Bring me to live where love is shown.

A broken soul houses broken heart,
But I'm still too strong to just depart.
I follow the stars, my fleeting hope,
Chancing that my heart's re-sewn.

I think I can relate to your poem in several ways. First, the mask thing, many can relate to that, it's just a think that we do. I also can relate to the part of always having some hope. There's always hope I think.

    Nice poem. =)
