Xx First Song xX

The moon is climbing up into the sky
Slowly, surely as the night goes on
Reaching its place amongst the cosmos
In control of the heavens before the dawn

The moonlight glistens upon the foliage
Casting patterns of a silver rainbow
A ball of fluff rolls from the leaves
Two jade gems gleam a naughty glow

The cubs are out for the very first time
Five feather tails brushing side to side
Nosing in the shrubbery and undergrowth
Their mother watches with worry and pride

Two cubs observe the moon with suspicion
The white globe casting spells on their fur
The night's melody tingles across their ears
Causing their small vocal chords to stir

One by one, their small noses point upwards
Tipped ears perk up, fragile yet strong
Harmonious howls and shrill acute barks
As the wolf cubs sing their very first song

The moon conducts this debut recital
As the twinkling stars cast a beautiful sheen
The cubs sing 'til the night comes to an end
The breathtaking song of a small wolverine
