Second By Second

by Poetic Grunt   May 10, 2007

Wake up to the sound of war
Remembering that I'm not at home anymore
Holding on to anything that I have
Accepting that I might not ever be coming back
Its enough to drive any normal man out of his life
But for us few, we strive to endeavor this strife
In the back of our heads the clock still ticks
The cold hard truth that we're running out of tricks
Reality strikes and hits us hard in the face
We can be gone in a couple seconds without any trace
But still we must push on and avoid the light that beckons
Living life on the edge, second by second
