Penguin's Journey

by Raychil   May 10, 2007

In the realm of snow and flake
Thus begins the weathers wake
Wind will cause the hills to shake
With rain and sleet, all is at stake

Blackened feathers
White and Grey
Squawks of migration
Sooth the day

Clashing of snow
And feet collide
As they waddle
To beat the tide

Temperature drops
And so does the number
As few of the pack
Meet endless slumber

Dads watch the egg
Mother's go feed
The mom's are at risk
The dad's are in need

Winter seems endless
The sun leaves for days
The penguins await
To feel the it's warm rays

Once the day dawns
To relive an endless fight
Some have succeeded
Other's died in the night

The babies will hatch
The mom's bring their meal
But some of them were
Eaten by seal

Their life is quite tough
A journey so long
They rely on their instinct
To help them stay strong

But can only instinct
Guide the way
Will it be enough?
To live through each day?

*I had to write this for a class haha :). I love the penguins ha ha*
