Hidden Depths

Far beneath the surface
past the illusion of felicity
lay the demons of my life
begging for simplicity

Head barely above the water
ice running through my veins
haunting childhood memories
my life's agonizing chains

Depths you do not see
the torn edges of my heart
hidden far within the darkness
past tearing me apart

Looking toward the clouds
beginning a brand new day
realizing I can not blame my past
for melting my happiness away

Live for every moment
someday all life will cease
cleanse in the waters of the earth
and find your inner peace

Author's note : When you forgive the tortures of your past
you will find peace and happiness within yourself.

I Very much agree with you...My pastor always taught me to forgive others just for myself...so I can go on living without the pain and finally live in peace....

I liked the poem, it was deep, but easy to understand. It's message really rang true throughout the entire piece. I liked that the poem had sadness, but yet still had hope within it.

I absolutely loved it. And it had a wonderful message, so true. You can't move on in life unless you let go. 5/5. I loved it.
