My Daughterly Praise

by Rachel   May 11, 2007

Each mothers day we try so hard
to explain how thankful we are
but each year we fail to express our great content
for your affection has travelled so far

i hope this time i can show it in full
so much more than all the other days
mothers, this is what i want to say
to describe my daughterly praise

you've given me such hope
and so many great things
and taught me to fly
in this world with my wings

and when i was sad
you were always there to relieve
even though my reasons
may not have been ones to grieve

you always understood me
when i made no sense at all
you were always the one to grasp me
before i took a fall

you bought me things
that i begged you for
and i loved you for it
but nothing could make me love you any more

i already love you
with all that i'm made of
there's nothing quite as strong
as this unsustainable love

so this mothers day
i hope you can see
that i only wish i could define
how much your love means to me

It's very good, and i love the message on how we can never really express how much they really mean to us... even by giving them a day of praise
