Growing Up

by MaSkEdSoUl   May 11, 2007

We grew up in a place
Full of fakes and lies
As kids we had everything,
Great Mom
Love-able Dad
Wonderful neighbors
(Or so it seemed)
But as we grew
We realized all the misunderstandings

We finally knew what was real
All the dishonesty and fakes
So many lies and so little truths

Why do people lie?
Why do people hate?
Why do people envy?...

I guess its the way of life...

I liked how you ended this peice, you started out with anger and such but you ended it on such a soft note about how thats just the way it is. And the three questions are ones that I've thought about myself quite often. Nice job. I liked this.

I love the ending to this...very powerful and hard hitting, and the questions really make you think about things.
I liked how you started out with everything perfect in the beginning and then moved onto the harsher realites of life.

Powerful poem. It's scary how niave we are as children. But the truth comes full force as we grow up!

Note: "We finally new what was real"
    "new" should be "knew".
    But anyway. GREAT poem.
