Where I'm From

by Tori Lynn   May 11, 2007

Where Iâ??m From
I am from the corn and hay fields,
From riding on the tractor in the hot summer heat.
I am from playing in the sprinklers,
With my sisters after the work is done.
I am from watching the sun go down,
And the pillow fights, until dawn hits the windows.

I am from the single parent family,
Tony raising three girls.
I am from the tears and the smiles,
Shared with my family night after night.
I am from sticking the fork in the light socket,
Just because my sisters told me to.

I am from my daddy always telling saying,
â??Donâ??t do that, youâ??ll break your nose.â??
From going against everything I hear.
I am from breaking my nose,
And from regretting not listening to them.

I am from the little country church,
Right up the road,
From singing â??The Family of Godâ?? until I canâ??t sing anymore.
I am from Frank and Mae being my heroes,
And the good old fashion morals.
I am from the memories, the stories,
The little country home, on the outskirts of town.
But most of all, from being my own person.
