Aint Love Grand

by Daisy if you do   May 11, 2007

Her Momma passed in childbirth
when she was just thirteen
Responsibility was now shifted
for her to cook and clean

Much different in age
from the siblings that she kept
To be a sister and a mother
this she must accept

Penny pinching poor
and barely scraping by
Never wavering to leave
never questioning "Why?"

It may have crossed her mind
only a time or two
If she ever thought it
she never followed through

Years have come and gone
Since her husbands have passed
Four marriages with three men
the first was also her last

Eight children given birth
seven of which she raised
Two children taken too early
now rest within their graves

Heartaches and happiness
through five generations strong
Tried and tested love
she never could be wrong

They were made much stronger
Of this you can be sure
If you happen to be in doubt
Just take a look at her

If I am ever asked
what love is by another
I will simply answer
"Aint love grand-mother?"
