To Paint A Rainbow

by Biscuit   May 11, 2007

The rain fell.
Ignorant, stubborn, blinkered.
Soaked umbrellas shrouding faces;
anoraks smothering skin.
The truth disguised.

Drainpipes dripping,
trees sheltering,
puddles splashing, smashing.

Oblivious, the rain fell.

And the sun waited.
Patient, compassionate, wise.
Waiting for the rain to
Stop.

But
She did not stop to listen
And
She did not stop to think.

The sun it glared,
It flashed, it flared.
Revealing the honesty within;
exposing the skin.

Birds singing,
droplets drying,
flowers gleaming, beaming.

Triumphant, the sun shone.

And the raindrops danced, hand in hand
to paint a rainbow in the skies.

*for scott, who rescued me again.

    I look forward to reading more of your poetry ~ this was terrific! Although I enjoyed the entire poem, this is my favorite:
    The sun it glared,
    It flashed, it flared.
    Revealing the honesty within;
    exposing the skin.

    Again, great job!

    Wow! This is simply amazing. The style is very unique, creating emphasis in the important lines and effective pauses. The topic is creative, blending nature with love. Reading it, it flowed very well, with excellent word use. Detailed description created beautiful imagery with such a strong ending to a wonderful poem. I couldn't suggest anything to improve this at all.
    This is definately a favorite of mine. It's the first of yours i've read and i'm sure i'll be reading more. You sure do have talent. =] 5/5
