The beast and his rose

by Stephanie Naylor   May 11, 2007

The rose sits on the pedestal beneath the glass casing
to keep it from harm

one of the petals has already fallen from its bold steam

i fear the day the last petal leaves its home
for that day shall not be forgotten

days go by and petals fall and lye on the table
then i sit and watch the rose
as the last petal falls from the wilted steam

in that moment i die a peaceful death
my heart just stops and i don't feel a thing

no one will ever find me here
i will be left here forever

for i am the beast that everyone is afraid of

This was such an amazing poem. I truely did enjoy this piece it was quite beautiful in its y very own dark way. The meaning portrayed behind it was most interesting. The only things that need work throughout this is the proper puncutation. None the less a great read.~mel

How poignant. How this piece could be interpreted in any ways possible, other than its subject allusion of Beauty and The Beast, is rather innovative. Perhaps this piece was referring to the time when the Beast haven't met Belle yet. It could also refer to the subject's inner self--morbid inner self... I liked the slightly plaintive ambiance throughout, it suits for the poem indeed. I only have complaints about the lack of punctuation and the need for the capitalization of I's. ~Marian
