A Dull Gray

by Anne Garcia   May 12, 2007

I'm safe behind this glass window
watching as the world turns into a dull gray
As the peace in my family continues to grow
Theirs' quickly dies from day to day

As a child loses a home,
and families start to fall apart,
among the lonely streets they will roam,
and sleep on the benches in the park

Young girls fall in love too quickly
And they give up what we hold most precious
But of course, she finds that he didn't love her truly
But still gives birth to a child who is now fatherless

There are many young minds out there
Young minds that long to break free
But to live their dream, they won't dare
Because they need to stay home and take care of their family

Broken hearts, and broken dreams,
lay helplessly on the ground,
Just thrown away it would seem
but they are just lost, waiting to be found

There's blood being spilled,
sometimes on purpose, most of the time accidentally
they weren't meant to be killed
they were just the innocent souls that you couldn't see

What is stated above,
is what life is,
Life can be so tough,
But I guess that's a risk

Promises were made to be broken,
To love is to hate,
One day it will all end,
we'll just have to wait

** This is a poem about life. Life can be overrated, but all we have to do is wait, I promise you, it will end.. and it will end soon.

This poem has really touched my heart. it's so tru-all of the things you pointed out in your poem. not many people seem to care about these kinds of things anymore. some may say, wow thats bad, but then turn away & go back to doing what they were doing. it would be so nice if it could stop. it would be impossible, but hopefully it will. xoxo
