Perfection

by isabel   May 12, 2007

People laughing, talking on the phone
He sat in a corner, always alone
You looked into his portrait, said it wasn't real
"It's not ugly enough..." How did he feel?

I held my breath and hatefully stared
You laughed at me, you never cared
I looked back at him, didn't know what to say
I know how it feels, to hear that every day

There's something good about my need to hide
It's easier for me to see what's inside
Close your eyes and, then, you might see
How perfectly beautiful that boy can be

I see perfection without my eyes
I see with my heart and he never lies
You call it love, you say perfect is he not
I say it's true, his soul is really hot

I love your theme message. Something you see through the other person's imperfections... transposed by time into perfections... in the end, it's what we all called love... The fact that, although this person isn't that good-looking, you see his soul "sizzling hot" made an impression to me that you must've liked this person....made me chuckle, but, it strikes a chord with me! Hmm... it made me think as well, and I learned something with these lines:
"There's something good about my need to hide
It's easier for me to see what's inside"
You've encompassed so much with that couplet...

I could go on if you like... but it's been so tedious of me since the start of my comment. haha... thanks for sharing! My real pleasure to read such a thoughtful love poem. Love, Debbie

The message of this poem is great...I think you could reword it a little bit for a more drastic impact, but I definitely like your poem! I will definitely be reading more of your works!
