I Thought You Loved Me

by ben thompson   May 13, 2007

My sadness flows like rain,
through battered and bruised eyes.
This night my life was ruined,
when your love said good-bye.

Heart still and bleeding from
emotional and physical wounds.
Some days I'd like to slit my wrists
So I can end it all soon.

Is there any help for
my blight I call life.
I thought I was loved
you asked me to be your wife.

Shrouded in my veil of shame
as I walk all alone
Even though I have the house
It's no longer my home.

Does she treat you as well
and take care of you?
Does she know you beat me
till I was black and blue?

When the new wears off
just wait and see.
You'll see just how ugly
his handsome face can be.

Amazing how you can write through the eyes of a battered woman....awesome!
The whole piece is excellent...but this verse captures the essence of the shame and loneliness associated with being a battered woman I think:

Shrouded in my veil of shame
    as I walk all alone
Even though I have the house
    It's no longer my home.

    Well done....Debbie 5/5

    Ben
Excellent job on showing the feelings of a battered women. Even though she has been abused she still feels like she is in love with the man.

Does she treat you as well
    and take care of you?
Does she know you beat me
till I was black and blue?

This stanza really is so heartfelt.
    Great job!
    Love Cindy
