Today I suddenly realized,
I'm holding onto a helpless dream,
Living in my own world,
Where northing's as it seems,

I thought there was a chance,
That me and you would hook up,
After all you said you felt the same,
But I guess it just wasn't enough,

You said you don't want to hurt me,
You've got too much going on right now,
I understand what you're saying,
But I thought it could be different somehow,

You said if we'd met a year earlier,
Then maybe things wouldn't be this way,
But you also said I make you happy,
So tell me why you couldn't stay,

And although I search for answers,
I don't think I'll ever really know,
The reasons for your decisions,
What really made you go,

I always tried to treat you good,
Give you everything you wanted and more,
I tried to fulfill all your needs,
And pick you up when you were low,

I know I haven't completely lost you,
Because we've managed to stay friends,
But it doesn't make it any easier,
