My Prayer

I pray you'll keep him safe,
And hold him in your arms.
I pray you'll dry his tears,
And shield him from all harms.

Please won't you be his eyes,
And take him by the hand.
I fear I won't be there,
To help him understand.

Tell him that I loved him,
And I love him still.
Tell him that I needed him,
And that I always will.

And tell him that I'm sorry,
That I had to go.
Tell him all these things for me,
He really needs to know.

Bring him light in darkness,
Keep away the fears.
Be his silent guardian,
Watching through the years.

That's all I have to ask you,
Before I join your side,
God, protect my baby boy,
After I have died.
