Burning Abusive Bridges

You pull me up
Only to push me down
You cover my mouth
Just to cover my frown

I run away, but close
Because you hold me near
It's not in love you grasp
It's only through fear

I've ruined my life
Trying only to save it
You shattered my dream
While I worked to repair it

My family tried to warn me
Of the attitudes you kept hidden
But no one could hold me back
No one could keep you forbidden

Now my life is withered
Like a vivid rose...stabbed
