Coming out

by Shealee   May 14, 2007

He sits in his closet,
Crying in his hands.
The hatred, the stares, the threats;
The fight for his life.
They haunt him to no end.
Always trailing behind him.
Always in the back of his mind.

He sits in his closet,
Not knowing what to do.
The cuts, the bruises, the hurt;
The fight for his life.
People push him to close the edge.
Only for whom he is.
He is gay and people dislike that.
He is who he is.

He sits in his closet;
Lonely as ever.
Sitting, thinking, crying, whispering,
Fighting for his life.
The tears wont stop, the thoughts never end.
The whispers won’t give up.

He sits on his bed.
Not knowing how this will go over.
He knows he is ready.
To cross the stage.
And tell everyone.
That he is GAY.
He is not weak,
And he is not pretending.
He is ready for everything that already happened.

    You've captured the thoughts and emotions of so many. I look forward to the day when people are no longer judged based on sexual preference but rather for the person they are. Good write.

    That is so sad but very true people when they dont understand become arrogant and try to destroy the thing that they dont understand

    sadly most of the time it is againgay, bi or lesbians......

    the poem was a sad but brilliant portrayal of just that….amazing job it made me cry knowing that the same thing has happened to me
