Silence, overwhelming
Standing here watching you leave
Your back looks so cold from here
Sweeping the floor, taking my breath away
Could it be true? Or were my eyes made to betray?
Everything we've struggled through
Over in a matter of seconds, a simple exchanging of words?
Fire's turning love into ash
No, this is not the way it's going to end
Hold me back, I can't bear to look
The sights far too depressing
I close my eyes tight; turn my head towards the sky
A prayer for this truth to fade
Holding back the tears, staying strong, never cry
Was your love really so weak
Trembling like a child in the midst of giants
Did your words really strike so mercilessly?
Burning without a single spark of regret
Your fire burns without remorse; your heart, against mine
Looking back, everything seems so flawed
The pretty lies you used to tell so perfectly
I've come to realize your nothing more than a fake
All the pictures on the wall thrown away
Every last memory, gone forever, unless you come back again
Coming home, through the door comes a silence
You're the only one awake at this time tonight
A staircase leading to your only escape
Cautiously, you shut the door, an attempt to keep separate the sleeping from the awake
Walking to the mirror your reflection hides from you
Because even it doesn't know who you are anymore
Just another day, you say again, just another to add to the list
Time goes by slowly when you've lost your own identity
Left in the dark, standing as time flies by
A hour passed, still lost in a sea of disbelief
I admit, you caught me by surprise
I never thought mere words could strike so hard
But I should have seen it coming
Love is nothing in the face of fire
