Hidden Depths

by Midnight Sun   May 15, 2007

The surface lies so still
It's placid face remaining calm
Serenely quiet it is
Holding peace in it's very palm

On the ocean's surface
It graces our unknowing eyes
We are unaware of what lies beneath
This being it's true disguise

Too often we take what we see
And never look beyond what's apparent
But look at all you are missing
By assuming she is transparent

So look passed all that you "know"
And have a curiosity never quenched
And make the power of knowledge
Be in you firmly entrenched

This was written for a contest. It was Gem's contest and it was written after a picture she gave us to use. The link is:

You've taken this picture and ran with it creating a wonderfully penned write.

Very different. a nice piece with some good flow and a deeper word usage then I normally see from you. I really liked this one!
