The Ant and the Grasshopper

by Fsams   May 15, 2007

Out in an isolated land
Lives a hopper and an ant
Enjoying the days of summer
Singing the songs of summer

But being slack and lazy
The hopper avoids work
The ant keeps on collecting food
Gathering inside a hollowed wood

The ant advises the lazy hopper
To prepare for the days of Autumn
But it simply teases the ant
Saying these days are sacrosanct

At last the season Autumn arrives
Destroying many crops and lives
The ant hides in its hole
Suddenly it hears someone's call

The hopper is out in the rain
Shivering with lots of pain
The ant provides it shelter
While it ran helter-skelter

Helter-skelter huh? lol.. I have no idea what that means nor am I going to go run for a dictionary. Poem's idea wasn't very unique. But your rhyming ,flow, word choice, emotion... Was all yours. And you scored 5's in all of those. Great Job

I liked this story. Poems that have stories are really cool. It reminded me of this movie called "A bugs life". It had sorta the same idea. I loved the different words you used to describe what was happening. The poem as a hole was very well put together. In the end, does the ant help the grasshopper out to teach it a lesson? Great job!
