Smoking Door

by Jenni Marie   May 16, 2007

Exhaustion overcomes her
As she struggles with life
Once she was so happy
Now she's fallen in strife.

Her eyes remain half closed
So that no one can see
How far she has fallen
When she used to be so carefree.

For she has always known
Eyes are the windows and door to a soul
Yet she is adamant no one will know
That she is no longer whole.

Always pretending to be happy
Turned into the most frightful liar
But the window to her soul is cracked
The door smoking and on fire.
