Wake Up

Her glass heart shattered to pieces.
Rain drops fell from her eyes.
Nothing made sense now.
Why did he say goodbye?
She never seen it coming.
Everything seems to be going good.
Evidently, that wasn't what he thought.

She walked up to him in school the next day.
She said she wanted to talk.
He said he'd pick her up at 8 that night.
She walked home with her mind racing.
There was so much to think about.
But, she had to put it aside and attempt to get ready despite her shaking.

That night, she took extra time on her hair and makeup.
It took her an hour to pick out her clothes.
Finally, the doorbell rand at exactly 8:00.
She opened the door and walked with him.
Once in the car, he said the would go for a walk in the park.

It was dark outside, but there were plenty of lights.
They sat on a bench and he turned to her.
He reached in his pocket and placed a rind on her finger.
She asked what it was for.
Her told her it was a promise ring.
He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
And, this didn't make any sense to her.

Now she asked him why he said goodbye.
He replied that he wanted to be 100% sure that he couldn't live without her.
Tears filled her eyes and she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek.
She understands now.
And, she knows her future.

Her first love was her only love.
And, she has the rest of her life to look forward to waking up beside him.
She knows he will always be there.
And, that there won't be another goodbye.
She will forever be his.
And, he is forever hers.
No more worried.
No more wondering about tomorrow.
Everything is set in place.
